Parrott Match rescheduled for Tuesday!!!!

Hi Team, ****Finally got the word the match at Parrott has been moved to Tuesday at 1:00pm. Practice today at the normal time weather permitting!!**** Posted 7:24am Monday 28th. Bland ***As of 9:42pm Sunday night I have not heard anything definitive on if the match is cancelled or when it can be made up. I assume they have not been able to reach all the Coaches. As of now plan to play, I really think from what I was told it is highly unlikely but you still need to be ready to go if things do not change. When I hear I will let you know**** Just got a call from the golf coach at APA, Hugh Pollard. Looks like if they can get approval from the CCS coach who they have not been able to get in touch with we are going to play on Tuesday not Monday. Be prepared to go to school Monday just in case. This is about 90% definite, appears we will not play on Monday due to rain and cold. We will practice on Monday weather permitting. Spread the word among your teammates, I will post more when I find out the final plans. Bland

How we are going to improve our game.

Hi Team,

I guess the big question for all on this years team is how are we going to improve our game. Here are some thoughts and I will add to these as I have more time some return to this page and re-read this information.

1- Practice does not make Perfect, Perfect Practice makes Perfect. If you are doing it incorrectly then you are only grooving a bad habit. We need to make sure that we strive to have good fundamentals to give each player their best chance of being as good as they can be. Along with having good fundaments a player must have a understanding of the game and what is their best chance at shooting a good score.

2- The fastest way to improve your game and our teams score is the short game. We are getting close to the point that as a group we have workable golf swings. Not all perfect yet but far enough along that I can work with each of you to close the gap and improve.

3- Here is the logic, develop a workable tee shot that emphasizes consistently staying in the fairway. Play low risk golf. Become good at scoring from 50 yards in. We should never take more than 3 strokes to get the ball in the hole from 50 yards into the hole. We will need each player to track this stat to track improvement.

4- We will put in extra time working on chipping, putting, pitching and getting better out of the sand.

5- As a team we operate on the idea for every player that bogey is a good score. If we have a choice between taking a big chance for birdie or playing safe and smart to guarantee no worse than a 2 putt bogey that will be our focus. All good golfers play this way. Bogey's do not kill your score but Par plus 5 and double and triple bogey's do. If you made all bogeys you would shoot 90. Almost for certain if I gurantee you no worse than a bogey you will make a few pars and maybe some birdies. 75 to 85 becomes very easy to get to if you take the high scores off the table.

6- In a golf match we take our 4 best scores. 4 times 90 = 360. That would be a great starting spot for our team.

More to follow later!
